X-Ray Radiation Safety Survey and Inspection
covering more than ed-xrf analyzers
Part of the annual services performed on x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers includes the safety radiation inspection. However, our safety radiation experience extends beyond XRF…
Eastern Applied Research is able to perform critical safety inspections on the majority of x-ray generating equipment and provide the documentation you require for State Registration of x-ray equipment and audits |
Our organization and Field Service Technicians are registered with states throughout the United States to provide routine inspections of more than just XRF Analyzers. Equipment we have worked on in the past include:
During an x-ray radiation inspection, our Field Service Technicians will perform the following tasks (when applicable to the equipment):
If your site uses an x-ray machine, or other type of radiation emitting device, then you should periodically have a qualified professional provide a radiation survey. That may be every six months to five years depending on the analyzers and industry. These services should also be performed at installation or re-installation, after repairs of internal components, when personal monitoring shows an increase, abnormal conditions are noticed, etc.
- Industrial X-Ray Equipment;
including industrial CT scanners and both energy dispersive and wavelength x-ray fluorescence - Checkpoint Security Machines;
airport x-ray screening, business access systems, etc - Dental, Medical, and Veterinary X-Ray Systems
During an x-ray radiation inspection, our Field Service Technicians will perform the following tasks (when applicable to the equipment):
- Radiation Leakage Test; confirm within mR/hr acceptable range, which varies with equipment
- Check/test of safety interlocks, shutters, warning lights, etc
- Confirm proper radiation signs/labels are present on equipment, work area, doors, etc
- Review of current certificate of registration and safety inspection

X-Ray Radiation Safety Training:
Our experienced staff can work with your sites Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), or person with the highest level of management, on questions relating to x-ray safety. We are able to provide training for some equipment on safety procedures and can be a resource when safety radiation programs are developed or reviewed.
Contact Eastern Applied Research to discuss your sites safety radiation program and certification needs.
In addition to services of x-ray systems that are currently in use, or on-site (which still requires radiation servicing), we also provide X-Ray Disposal services on some equipment. Contact us to discuss disposal of your unused systems.
