As the price of gold rises, accuracy in measuring how much gold is present in a sample becomes increasingly important for precious metal refiners and others.  XRF Analyzers offer a non-destructive testing method that, when used properly, can provide extremely accurate results.

One aspect of proper instrument set-up and use is having accurate gold karat reference standards.  When utilizing an XRF to determine gold purity high-quality standards should be used that provide information on all known constituents of a karat so that proper matching functions can occur – no matter what model XRF Analyzer is used, this will increase an instruments’ accuracy.

Karat Gold found in jewelry is a specialized industry requiring special tools designed for this purpose. The experts at Eastern Applied Research Inc. have produced a new line of karat Gold standards to meet this need.

Available in many types, common standards are yellow gold and white gold from 10 karat to 22 karat including the precious metals of Platinum (Pt), Rhodium (Rh), Palladium (Pd), Iridium (Ir), Silver (Ag) and Osmium (Os) and base metals of Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu) Zinc (Zn) and others.

Proper reference standards are important to an instruments performance in measuring gold content and all other measurements.  Contact the Eastern Applied Accredited Standards Laboratory to discuss standards that will make your XRF Analyzer more effective; 716-625-8311.
