Test for Lead with XRF
XRF Instruments for Hazardous Substance Testing
RoHS, Proposition-65, Lead-Free, etc
It has been estimated that growing hazardous substance initiatives (RoHS, Lead-Free, etc) will affect a minimum of 100,000 product lines and if your products have even trace amounts of lead or other hazardous substances you may need to consider how to prove compliance. Toys, Cosmetics and Costume Jewelry are just a few of the products affected by various regulations.
Eastern Applied Research provides solutions to hazardous substance testing. Organizations that want complete control of their compliance program realize the benefits of in-house testing (no long-term costs, no shipping and turn-around hassle, etc) and XRF Technology offers a low-cost, non-destructive testing option.
Brief Instrument Overviews...
The SEA-Series of XRF from SIINT (Seiko) includes several instruments that will test for hazardous substances. They are fast, accurate, simple-to-use and limit long-term costs of testing (click on the XRF name below for additional info):
- Seiko 1000A: designed specifically for RoHS related testing; it has been selected as the exclusive instrument used by multiple international organizations that require accuracy, simplicity and excellent report/record keeping software.
- Seiko 1200VX: adding multi-functional ability to the 1000A, the 1200VX XRF provides RoHS testing with high-speeds (time savings of up to 90%) and a liquid-nitrogen free detector that exceeds the results of others that are using LN2. The Seiko 1200VX also performs coating thickness, bulk-analysis and more.
- Seiko 5120A: another multi-functional XRF instrument; the high resolution semi-conductor detector and x-ray filter makes HS-Analysis and coating thickness measurements with high resolution and accuracy at low ppm levels possible.
- Seiko SFT/SEA-9500: The X-Ray Capillary System creates a substantial improvement in accuracy levels for RoHS analysis in "micro-spot sizes" with significantly shorter inspection times. Also performs coating thicknesses, etc.
