Three Key Advantages of the PMI Master Smart, Mobile OES System

Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) is one of three metal testing technologies that Eastern Applied Research offers on behalf of Oxford Instruments.  The most popular of the OES systems is the PMI Master Smart.  Released in 2014, this newest OES system is the most portable unit on the market and provides a number of benefits that make it an industry leader in mobile OES.

Three of the benefits that make it a popular system for in-house incoming/outgoing inspection and with independent inspection companies are highlighted below…contact Eastern Applied Research with any questions or to coordinate an on-site demonstration of the equipment.

Grade Database
Unique to the Oxford Instruments OES line (both stationary and portable) is the pre-installed grade database that includes 4 million records, covering over 200,000 metal grades.  This database acts as an excellent cross reference tool for system users, providing the ability to search by chemical composition and mechanical properties, obtain heat transfer diagrams, and more.  Request Grade Database Information.

Efficient, Simple, and Flexible
Oxford Instruments developed the PMI Master Smart to be simple and efficient for any user, regardless of past experience. This includes an easy start-up process that makes it almost a ‘plug and play’ system along with operation that anybody can use after a short training session.  However, the mobility options that it offers set it apart from other portable OES systems. At a relatively light 33lbs, users can choose different transportation options like a back-pack or transport cart.  The flexibility of how it is moved, the variety of probes, and the chord length options give the system flexibility and access to most locations required for testing.

Analytical Performance
Optical emission spectroscopy is the technology of choice when proper grade separation requires quantification of light elements or the precise analysis of trace elements.  Common examples are quantification of nitrogen in duplex steels, trace analysis in stainless grades, and quantification of Carbon to properly separate 304 and 304L grades.  Examples of this precision are available from Eastern Applied Research and we can coordinate on-site demonstrations so that your organization can see the benefits that Oxford Instruments PMI Master Smart will provide in achieving your metal testing requirements.

If portable OES can benefit your material verification processes,
then the PMI Master Smart should be considered.
